Every bride does a hefty amount of preparation for their wedding day. Before the main event, they usually have a prenup photo shoot to serve as a sort of souvenir for the couple and a reminder of how their happy relationship blossomed into marriage. One bride though, had to stop in the midst of her wedding photoshoot when she learned that a stranger needed her help. The heroic bride-to-be made the right call to interrupt the photoshoot in order to save a life.
25-year-old Guo Yuanyuan was in the middle of her prenup photo shoot with her husband-to-be Xiao Liu on a beach in Dalian, Northeast China. She was wearing a beautiful blue dress adorned with flowers and butterflies, the perfect outfit for a pretty lady. What was supposed to be a happy day suddenly turned tragic when Guo learned that a man had drowned nearby.
Because no one knew how to do CPR, the heroic bride-to-be ran towards the stranger in order to administer CPR. Guo happens to be a cardiac nurse at a nearby hospital.
Guo didn’t think for a second about her dress or her photo shoot and instead paid attention to the man who desperately needed her help.
The bride-to-be, still wearing the blue gown, conducted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the stranger for 20 minutes until he regained consciousness. Despite her efforts, the paramedics who arrived at the scene eventually declared the man dead. Although he drowned, the true cause of his passing was actually cardiac arrest.
Guo, on the other hand, was declared as the prettiest bride in China due to her heroic act. Even though her dress was tattered, her nails were broken, and her makeup ruined, her good deed towards a man she didn’t even know earned her that title. Guo proved that true beauty comes from the kindness in our hearts, not from our outward appearance.
“At that time, I only remember that I was a nurse. My career’s responsibilities are higher than that of a bride,” says Guo.
Meanwhile, her husband-to-be expressed how proud he is of his wife-to-be. “She enjoys helping people normally and that’s what I like about her,” Xiao said.
