ABS-CBN’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” singing competition grand champion Noven Belleza was arrested in Cebu for allegedly raping his fellow entertainer.
The singer who went viral on the internet because of his amazing renditions of Air Supply songs was charged by the Mabolo Police with rape before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor.
Because of the shock of being arrested, Noven Belleza rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pains. He is now under hospital arrest and being guarded by the authorities.
According to Mabolo Police Station Chief Jacinto Mandal, the alleged victim went to their station before the concert, seeking help after she was allegedly rape by Belleza.
The family of the victim, nabbed Belleza through citizen’s arrest, after the singing champion performed in the “Pusuan mo si Vice Ganda” show at the IEC Pavillion in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
“We assisted the victim during the citizen’s arrest because she was the one who really knew what happened,” Mandal said.
According to the investigation, the victim and Belleza knew each other and were “text mates”
The crime allegely happened inside a condo unit in a Barangay in Cebu City last July 15 around 2 A.M.
According to the victim, she didn’t expected that Belleza would commit such crime to her because she knew the performer as a good person. She was also physically hurt by Noven after she tried to stop her from doing the crime.
“Hindi ko inakala na gawin niya yun sa akin dahil mabait siya, pero hindi rin ako papayag na tarantaduhin niya ako.” The victim told PEP.ph
The family of the victim also said that they reject any settlement offer from Belleza and they are going to pursue the rape charges that they filed against the performer.
“Hindi kami papayag na magkaroon pa siya ng ibang biktima kaya itutuloy namin ang aming reklamo sa korte para makakuha kami ng hustisya sa ginawa niya sa aming anak.” The father of the victim said.
It’s Showtime is not yet releasing any statement about the charges faced by Belleza as of writing.
Sunstar Cebu says that as of 4 p.m. on Monday, July 17, the inquest proceedings at the Cebu City’s prosecutor’s office is ongoing.
