During the 120th anniversary celebration of the Department of Justice held at the Philippine International Convention Center, President Rodrigo Duterte once again lashed out at the ABS-CBN broadcasting network for allegedly refusing to air his television campaign ads during the elections.
In particular, President Duterte launched tirades at ABS-CBN’s owner, Gabby Lopez III. However, President Duterte mistakenly referred to Gabby Concepcion instead of Gabby Lopez III.
President Duterte said,
“Sino naka-p—ina ninyong lahat. Ikaw? Gabby Concepcion, mukha kang pera, p—ina ka. Eh totoo man. Eh sus.”
The president later corrected himself in his following statement.
“ABS-CBN, isa ka pa. Dapat na-hostage ka si Gabby Lopez doon, isali kita. Makinig ka, Gabby Lopez. Nag-place ako ng advertisement. Tinanggap ninyo ‘yung pera kong two million para kasi wala akong advertisement.”
“Tanggap nang tanggap kasi kayo ng pera in the name of greed. Tanggap ng pera tapos kung makasalita kayo pati ‘yung Inquirer, kaming mga––kung babuyin ninyo kaming mga taga-gobyerno, you picture us to be the corrupt o ano. Excuse me. Unfortunately, hindi ako ganoon. I would not have survived.”
ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation has been frequently earning the ire of the President who has repeatedly accused the network of accepting funds from him without airing his political advertisements.
Meanwhile, President Duterte also said during his speech that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, wanted to meet Sharon Cuneta, Gabby Concepcion’s ex-wife, for her birthday when she was still in grade school.
“Pangilinan is my friend at may utang na loob ako sa kanya. Si Inday, when she was Grade 6, Grade 5, sabi ko: ‘Anak, anong gusto mong birthday gift?’ Sabi niya: ‘Gusto ko magkasama kami ni Sharon Cuneta,’”
The president followed up by saying he’s thankful to Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Sharon’s current husband, for setting up the meeting.
“I had to call Senator Pangilinan: ‘Senator, I owe you for doing this [for] my daughter. I respect you’.”
