There are many mythical creatures which Filipinos believe are true. Some of them are aswang, lamang-lupa (gnome) and engkanto. Stories about them are more popular in rural areas. They say that bad things can happen to you if you disturb these beings. Just like a woman who won in the ‘Sugod Bahay’ segment of the Philippines longest-running television show, “Eat Bulaga.”
Part of the segment is visiting the winner’s home. So hosts, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards sat in the old woman’s tiny house.
The woman blames gnomes for her eye condition. According to her mother, her right eye began deteriorating after she urinated in their backyard. She said that the incident happened in their hometown in Daet, Camarines Norte.
She shared that she once got her eyes checked, but was told she had to undergo immediate surgery so she got scared. However, another doctor told her that it was better she didn’t get her eye operated as the other one could’ve also gotten affected.
Furthermore, Jose Manalo asked if she still thinks that a gnome is following her. The woman revealed that she actually sees one. It gave Maine a fright and the host asked where the woman sees this creature.
The ‘Sugod Bahay’ winner said that one afternoon, she saw a man wearing white while she was sweeping an area near the drainage in the backyard.
Apparently, Manalo has a way of finding out if any mythical creature was following her.
He placed her two pinky fingers beside each other only to discover that one is longer than the other. The host stated that it is an indication that the gnome is still following the woman.
