Anti EJK Bill of Sen. De Lima will require all the police to inform criminals about their arrival Tulfo

Former Department of Justice Secretary and now Senator Leila De Lima filed a bill called “Anti-EJK-Act-2016” Tuesday which penalize the arresting officer if he/she would not inform their arrival to the alleged criminals.

During PNoy’s term extrajudicial killings was defined as killings of member of political, agrarian, labor organization, media practitioner or people mistakenly identified to be so.

Now, the bill of Sen. De Lima orders the PNP to issue a warning announced through megaphones before conducting raid and arrest. The arresting officers are also prohibited from firing warning shot.

They also required to use non-lethal weapons as primary weapons even the suspected criminals fought back.

This bill will also give more power to the Commission of human rights and they will have the authority to investigate cases of extrajudicial killings.

People who opposed the alleged extrajudicial killings happening during President Rodrigo Duterte’s term lauds De Lima for filing this kind of bill, they believe that this Anti-EJK bill reduce the alleged human rights abuses.

But some Netizens labeled the Anti – EJK Bill “useless”.

Erwin Tulfo, blogger thinking Pinoy and some netizens criticised the bill that De Lima filed.

Delima files bill anti-EJK. She wants cops to announce their arrival to warn suspects of their arrest. What a stupid bill. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Some Netizens also believe that informing suspected criminals before arrest can give them time to destroy evidences, escape or to fight back.
