Hontiveros Nag Propose ng Bill na Nagsasaad na Taasan Ang Sahod ng mga Employed Rallyists, Protesters



Activist Senator Risa Hontiveros is taking the headlines again after she allegedly said she would be proposing a bill to help seasoned and employed fellow activists, and paid rallyists and protesters make more money. According to the senator, rallyists are the most ignored people despite of their continuous fighting for justice. Hontiveros also said that activists and rallyists are underpaid with no benefits.


But the senator also said activists should be exempted from taxes and other government deductions like SSS, Philhealth, and Pag-ibig Fund. “Gusto ko lang na mabigyan naman ng gobyerno ng pansin ang mga kapatid nating patuloy na lumalaban sa mga katiwalian at patuloy lumalaban para sa hustisya”, Hontiveros said. [I just want the government to give our brothers and sister who continue fighting against corruption, and in favor of justice”.]

Hontiveros said that more than 1,000 seasoned protesters are ignored by the government.

The senator also added that she is planning to give 70% of her salary to group of activists where she has been member si nce she entered activism when she was just six years old.

“For now, the standard pay for each protester per day is P500. I want to make it P1,000 per rally, and P5,000 for the organizers – all should be tax free”, Hontiveros said. /Gemma Nadado/
