Exclusive: Anti-Marcos Burial Protester ‘Admits’ Receiving P500, Complains Budget for Food Stolen by Organizer?

A self-claimed protester against the burial of the late-president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) this Friday, November 25 allegedly admitted that they received P500 from the organizer. But apparently, he claimed that that there was no food, noting that the organizer stole the budget for it. He posted his complaint on Facebook.

“Umuwi na rin po kami ng mga kasama ko dahil usapan gang 6pm lang yung binayad na 500 pesos at yung pagkain binulsa nun organizer ang budget, nyeta kayo talaga.” The supposed anti-Marcos burial protester wrote. The screenshot of his post was shared at Crabbler Facebook page this Saturday. His name and profile picture were partly covered.

(I already went home along with my companions because our agreement was only until 6pm for the P500 payment to us. There was no food because the organizer pocketed the budget for it. Damn you.)

Apparently, we at Taho News cannot confirm if then said Facebook user is really a legitimate anti-Marcos protester, and we have no way to prove if his claim his real or not. Meanwhile, some reports said that organizers claim 15,000 protesters who gathered at the Luneta Park as of 6 pm,.and 20,000 protesters as of 9 pm for the Black Friday protest.

The protesters include self-claimed Martial Law victims, senior citizens and students, militant groups such as Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), Serge Osmeña, the Tañada family, actress Pinky Amador, and Mae Paner (aka Juana Change). Generally speaking, the protest was peaceful as the police allowed them with maximum tolerance.

However, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan secretary general Renato Reyes said they were harassed on Facebook, allegedly by supporters of the Marcos family and President Rodrigo Duterte. Nevertheless, he claimed that the Black Friday protest was generally successful and that he happy that people came despite the continuous rains.

“Despite all their dirty tricks, the people still came out. They wanted to be counted, among the many voices opposing the Marcos burial. I think is very significant because this gives us a preview of what is to come, that the people will not sit idly by and allow a Marcos restoration,” Reyes said, adding that he hopes the Supreme Court (SC) will reverse its decision.
