Last week, the nation was gripped by the tear-jerking story of a young girl who inspired many with her bravery and dedication. Dubbed the “little nanay,” 12-year-old Mandy Sevillana serves as a sort of young mother to her siblings due to her life’s unfortunate circumstances.
Recently, she was once again a guest on GMA’s “Wowowin.” During her recent appearance, she received words of wisdom from the show’s eponymous host himself, Willie Revillame. In the past, Mandy Sevillana made an appearance on the popular game show and it became a pivotal moment in her life.
During the emotional segment, Mandy expressed her gratitude towards the host for opening the doors of opportunity for her. The host mentioned Mandy’s potential in the showbiz industry because of her angelic voice.
Willie left her with a bit of advice should she ever find herself interested in the showbiz industry.
“May payo lang ako sayo ah, bago ka makipag-usap sa iba, sa akin mo ipakausap. Iga-guide ka namin dito sa GMA.”
“Kung sakaling palarin ka, good for you sa family at para sayo. Kung ‘di ka palarin, nandito kami para sayo.”
At such an early age, Mandy is already burdened with the responsibilities of a grown-up person. As a young child, she should be out in the streets playing and enjoying her sweet childhood. However, this is but a dream to Mandy.
In reality, she spends most of her time confined to her house, attending to her younger siblings’ needs. The duties and responsibilities of her absentee mother were passed onto her. Her mother, who was supposed to take care of Mandy and her siblings, was jailed after being involved in illegal drugs.
Mandy never had a strong father figure throughout her life as well. Mandy’s father is an Austrian who left her mother when she was still pregnant with Mandy.
