Chinggoy Alonzo is best known for his theater work, television shows, and movies. In 1996, he was nominated for the “Best Supporting Actor” by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS) in the movie “Ikaw Naman Ang Iiyak.” He has two sons, Railon and Shark, who have embarked on a career of theater acting as well.



Railon works in Hong Kong Disneyland, where he plays multiple roles in “Disney Revue” and acts as the lead actor of “Mulan” within the amusement park. Meanwhile, Shark is a stage actor who played as Troy Boyton in the 2016 rendition of “High School Musical” held in the Ateneo de Manila University’s Gonzaga Fine Arts Building.

Chinggoy has been in the local showbiz industry since the 1960’s. Some of the movies he appeared in are “Dito Sa Pitong Gatang,” “Sana Pag-Ibig Na,” “Linlang,” “Santa Santita,” “Moments of Love,” “My Valentine Girls,” and “The Healing,” among others.
Now, it was reported by Philippine Entertainment Portal that the veteran actor passed away after losing his bout with colon cancer. According to the source, TV and movie director Mark Reyes informed the public about the actor’s passing on Monday, October 16, 2017, through social media.

“He was one of my favorite actors to cast in my TV series and films. Rest well and take a bow!”
