When the video of Xander Ford,which showed how he mocked the Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo’s physical attribute, leaked online, netizens went wild and a few local personalities stood up to defend the actress. Among these were TV host Gretchen Ho, celebrity radio jock DJ Chacha, and the “Magandang Buhay” host Karla Estrada (the mother of Kathryn’s onscreen partner and rumored beau Daniel Padilla).
Another relative of Daniel allegedly spoke out about this issue. On a post, a Twitter account which claims to belong to Robin Padilla said: “Baka nakakalimutan mong retokado ka lang?” However, the said Twitter page appears to be a fake account since another site bearing the handle @robhoodpadilla claims on the description that it is the actor’s “official twitter account.”
Meanwhile, Kathryn published an image quote on her Instagram page. It depicted a seemingly cryptic message, but netizens concluded that it pertained to the controversy. She wrote in the caption: “Own who you are. [heart emoji]”
It said:
“Being called names is painful. But one good thing about pain is it teaches you something. It teaches you that you are more than hurtful words and labels.”
The quote went on:
“You are more than the flaws that people see. You are more than their victim. Choose to stand up against cyberbullying and BE MORE.”
On the other hand, Xander already confessed that he was indeed the person in the video who was referring to the “La Luna Sangre” leading lady in a displeasing manner. On his Facebook account, he admitted to his mistake, apologized to the actress, and asked everyone to give him a second chance.
“Si Marlou pa ako nuon na Tanga, Inutil, Panget, Bobo at skwater mag salita. lahat yun kinalimutan kuna nag tatry na ako mag bago para sa ikabubuti ko,” he said.
“Nagkakamali din po ako at nasasaktan sa mga masasakit na salita. Bigyan nyo po sana ako ng chance magbagong buhay,” he added.
