Amber Rachdi is a young woman from Oregon, USA. Amber was always been heavy on the heavier side but when she turned 24 years old, her weight reached a dangerous peak. Her weight during this time was an unbelievable 660 pounds! Her obesity immobilized her and required her to go back home to her parents’ house so that they could take care of her.
Her body weight would limit her movements. She even had to rely on her electric wheelchair to get from one place to another. The only activity outside that she gets to do is when they go out to get food. The effects of her obesity weren’t only mentally but also physically, extra care needed to be done. Her thick folds of skin had to be washed to avoid inflammations.
Intimacy with her boyfriend was nonexistent because she was too overweight to do anything. The more unhappy she was, the more she ate. Amber was stuck in a vicious cycle. But Amber knew that her life would not end like this. Her transformation into a healthier and happier person would come soon.
With the support of her boyfriend and her own determination to get out of this slump, Amber worked hard to change and rid her body of the excess weight. She applied for the television show “My 600lb Life” in hopes that they would help her lose weight. Amber decided to undergo gastric bypass operation but before she could go through this, she had to lose 22 pounds.
She moved closer to the doctor who would do the operation. Amber also started eating healthier and sticking to a diet. She dropped 17 pounds in three months and was eligible for the operation. Months after the surgery, she lost 88 pounds. Feeling more confident about herself, she exercised and pushed herself more. A year after the operation, she was almost unrecognizable because of the 143-pound weight loss.
Now, she goes to a therapist to find ways to prevent binge eating again if she gets depressed. Amber is finding more and more reasons to be happy and content.
Quite an amazing transformation we should say.
