The country’s premier loveteams JaDine, James Reid and Nadine Lustre, and KathNiel, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, may be rivals as claimed by many, but the latter previously assured that there is no feud between them.
In fact, James said he is not bothered if he and Nadine are being compared to them and even mentioned that he is looking forward to working with the other tandem.
“Definitely, I would love to. I think that would be a hit,” James told ABS-CBN in 2014.
“I think ever since we started, they’ve been comparing us with KathNiel. But it hasn’t affected us so far. I worked with Kathryn on 'Shoutout' a long time ago, three years ago. Daniel, I’ve met him before. Lately no, not yet,” he said.
Both of these camps have their own army of fans and they sure are notorious when it comes to engaging in online battles just to prove which pair is better. But what if a crossover happens?
Last year, the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) asked the “Teen Queen” about her thoughts on the possibility to being paired with James.
Here was what she had to say: “Working with James? Hindi ko alam, kasi alam naman natin na may kanya-kanya ring fan groups. So parang…respect.”
This was after a photo of her with Daniel and James were spotted sitting together during the 47th Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards Night. Fans were then quick to conduct some “loveteam experiments” and merged the photos of Kathryn and James.
Their couple-y-looking photoshopped faces of James and Kathryn managed to swoon hearts. That was when the “KathReid” was born. A video also went viral last year wherein James was seen wanting to approach Kathryn during the ABS CBN Christmas Special—but Nadine pulled him away.
A recent rumor has left the fans shuddering as it claimed that James and Nadine’s on-screen pairing will disband soon. Heartbroken emojis for the loyal fans and followers of these two, but at least they’re not breaking up as a couple, right?
