Reese Tuazon, a promising new Kapuso actress, was chosen to be Alden Richard‘s new leading lady in a recent episode of “Magpakailanman” which aired Saturday night, November 25.
The “Pambansang Bae” and his new leading lady played the role of lovers in a riveting episode that tackled the recently-concluded conflict in Marawi City. Although the episode itself was quite a success onscreen, Reese Tuazon and Alden Richard’s team-up seemed to have hurt the feelings of some diehard AlDub fans.
The “Magpakailanman” episode did not sit well with some AlDub fans, who saw Alden’s new partner as a hindrance to his established loveteam with Maine Mendoza. Some fans even accused the GMA network of grooming Reese as a potential recurring leading lady for the 25-year-old actor.
Because of this, Reese Tuazon was bashed on social media. What does Reese have to say about this?
In order to get her sentiments about this controversy, Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) asked for a statement from Reese Tuazon via the GMA Artist Center. In an official statement, Reese was quoted as saying:
“Regarding the bashing of some Aldub fans, I respect and understand how they feel. I would like to let them know that the project with Alden was something I did not expect.”
“However, it was a very good opportunity for me to learn and hone my skill as an actress. It was plainly just for work, nothing personal to it. On the other hand, I would like to thank everyone who showed support and kindness. Thank you.”
Amid the hate, some netizens had positive things to say about the “Magpakainlanman” episode. Check out some of their insights below.
On the other hand, the tendency of some diehard AlDub fans to resort to bullying and bashing has been addressed by Maine Mendoza herself. In a three-page long open letter shared on Twitter, the 22-year-old actress pleaded with her fans to stop bashing other people who are involved or linked to both her and Alden.
Maine Mendoza tweeted:
“Kahit sinong madikit sa amin pinagiisipan at pinagsasalitaan ng hindi maganda. Basta hindi naaayon sa kagustuhan ang mga nakikita, nagagalit. It hurts me seeing them being hurt. It hurts me how some of you are so capable and so proud of throwing so much hate on others- especially on people who care about us. Family and friends outside the industry are being taken into the wrong context, even if they do not have anything to do with the issues thrown at us. Hiling ko ang ay sana bigyan natin sila ng respeto.”
