Maine Mendoza, also known as ‘Yaya Dub’ and other half of the sensational AlDub love team, reportedly went to the US to take a break from showbiz, according to some fans who sent her off at the airport yesterday, December 1.
According to Abante Tonite, the young co-host of Eat Bulaga wanted some time off after receiving backlash from writing a three-page open letter addressed to avid fans of the AlDub tandem.
In her message, the Kapuso darling asked for freedom from her fans, saying that she and onscreen partner Alden Richards are just friends, and not real-life lovers as others insisted.
Maine also expressed her heartfelt gratitude over the support she received throughout her blossoming career, but accepted the fact that she will get bashed for speaking her mind. Her bold move gathered support from fellow celebrities, while some netizens vented their ire for her audacity and selfishness.
Some who were with Maine in the airport said that the young star didn’t disclose her exact destination.
Even “Abante Tonite” wasn’t able to gather any information regarding Maine’s US trip.
“After nu’ng open letter na inilabas ni Maine, hindi pa kami nagkakausap. Hinahayaan ko muna na makapagpahinga siya, so, wala akong alam tungkol sa sinasabing pag-alis niya,” the tipster disclosed.
Prior to he departure, some AlDub fans gathered outside the studio at Broadway Centrum for the noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” to show their support for the reel couple.
It was dubbed a ‘white rally’ wherein supporters donned white shirts and held placards that read “Walang iwanan. We love you.”
As a matter of fact, the hashtag “#ALDUB124thweeksary” trended on Twitter with 1.7 million tweets, according to a previous report.
Moreover, the pair appeared to be on hiatus since they didn’t appear on the show for the past couple of days after Maine’s brave letter.
According to “Abante Tonite,” some fans of the young star even proceeded to Maine’s fast food branch in Bulacan just so they could talk to her father about her rumored decision to quit showbiz. They reportedly cried after begging Maine’s father to stop her from leaving her career behind.
